How 2017 Is Already Better Than 2016

By  |

You heard it over and over again. In fact, in just the month of December in 2016 you probably heard about 29,876 reasons why everyone thought 2016 was the worst. Even if you liked 2016, after you spend any amount of time on social media you were probably left doubting if you actually liked it or not since it was deemed “the actual worst.”

Whatever your stance is on how bad 2016 was, here are some reason why 2017 while only a few months in is already better than 2016 and will continue to be the best.

California is official out of the drought!

Whoo! After years of saving water and working hard to conserve every drop possible, California is no longer in a drought. These efforts coupled with record breaking rains have helped to secure a greener, wetter, better, future for California.

Great movies have been released and will continue to come out.

If “Hidden Figures” didn’t make you wish you knew how to do complex geometric calculations and “Beauty and the Beast” didn’t make you wish you could act and sing like Emma Watson, we need to talk. There have already been some seriously good movies released with many more to come. We’re really looking forward to the movies coming up. Seriously, 2017 is a good year for moviegoers.

“Hamilton” tour is underway.

If the words “The 10 dollar founding father without a father” or “I’m just like my country; I’m young, scrappy, and hungry and I’m not throwin’ away my shot” don’t make you start singing and rapping in your head immediately, you need to drop everything you’re doing and look up the musical hit “Hamilton.” This musical written by Lin-Manuel Miranda has taken the country and world by a whirlwind. “Hamilton” expands this year to include not only productions in New York and Chicago but also in London. The musical started touring in San Francisco in March and will move to 36 other announced cities over the next few years of the tour. Act fast, where tickets are available, they are already selling out! Another win for musical theater this year is that the soundtrack from the show “Dear Evan Hansen” became the 2nd broadway album to break into the top 20 along with “Hamilton” this year making this the first time in more than 51 years that there are two cast recordings in the top 20 of the Billboard 200 chart.

Polio is predicted to end this year!

With only 34 cases in 2016 it is predicted that Polio is coming to an end. This is a huge victory considering the 350,000 cases there were reported just in 1988.

The music is gonna be good.

We’ve already been impressed with the music that’s come out this year with the release of Ed Sheeran’s album Divide and other singles by some notable artists such as The Chainsmokers and Coldplay. Exciting music to come includes albums from big artists.

Superbowl history was made this year going as the game went into the 1st overtime ever!

What else is left to say about this historic sports game. How will next year’s game beat overtime?!

Wendy’s twitter account went savage

We all love when businesses successfully make a name for themselves on social media, and Wendy’s has done more than just that this year. Wendy’s has made a continuous round of sassy comebacks from answering the question like “What should I get from McDonalds?” with “A refund” to answering the question “What does Wendy’s have to offer that Burger King doesn’t?” with “Edible food.”

The Space probe Cassini will finish it’s tour this year.

After a journey just shy of 20 years the droid Cassini will enter Saturn’s atmosphere this year after successfully exploring and documenting space. Entering Saturn’s atmosphere will be the end for the droid and will mark the finish of  20 years of successful space exploration.

So take a small sigh of relief! 2017 is already good, it’s gonna be great, and let’s keep looking for all the awesome things in 2017 that we can appreciate.
